West Hampstead Home

Our Clients were captivated by the generous proportions and hints of period detail in this faded Victorian townhouse in West Hampstead. Recognizing its potential, they engaged us to restore its former elegance. The property, a rare six-bedroom detached home, had undergone a refurbishment 15 years prior, but had since suffered from neglect and lacked cohesive design. We revitalised the interior by replacing the heavily scratched black flooring with lighter timber, refreshing the worn Venetian plaster and paintwork, dramatically brightening the space and restoring its inherent warmth.

To enhance the flow and grandeur, French-style doors were introduced within an existing archway, creating a welcoming lobby. The original staircase, a key feature, was meticulously restored and painted off-black, showcasing its intricate detail. On the lower ground floor, two smaller rooms were combined to create a spacious family room, and the existing kitchen was refreshed with new doors and marble worktops.

Over a decade, our Clients had amassed an impressive collection of Indian art. The open-plan reception and dining room provided the perfect gallery-like backdrop, allowing these treasured pieces to take center stage and complete their vision of a vibrant, elegant family home

We were clear we wanted a design aesthetic which was classic but contemporary. Most importantly, we wanted to ensure our art collection found a home which allowed it to be appreciated as it deserved.

We had seen Victoria’s work at a friend’s house and loved her style. We reached out to her as soon as we bought our new home, talking her through our vision for the house, and in particular, ensuring that our art fits in with the design and flow of the house.

We very much enjoyed working with Victoria – she made the effort to understand our preferences, she presented us with beautiful interior options taking into account our feedback, and gently nudged us to consider new ideas (painting the stairs black, creating a camera effect by painting the dining room patio door frame black)! Victoria also designed some beautiful bespoke pieces for us.

We are delighted with our new home – it has turned out beyond our expectations, and it would not have been possible without Victoria’s vision and help. We have recommended Victoria to friends and would highly recommend Victoria to anyone looking for an interior designer.
